Cell Groups

At BEC we run a number of small youth groups which are called “Youth Cells”.  Below is an introduction to Youth Cells to try and answer some of the questions that you might have.

What is a Youth Cell?
A Youth Cell is a small group of young people who are similar ages.

What do they do?
The cells meet once a week in the evening.  During the meetings we normally discuss issues relating to God, faith, Christianity and the church.  There is also a chance to share, talk and pray with each other.
The cells also have a significant “social” element to them.  This may involve going on trips, events, outings and generally giving the young people a chance to have fun with their friends

Why are they called “cells”?
The word “cell” is based from the idea of a biological cell, in which we see strengthening, growth, relationships and multiplication.

Where & when do they meet?
This depends on the individual cell-group.  Most meet at the home of one of the cell leaders, although some meet at the home of one of the young people or at the church premises.  The day and time of the cell meeting is decided by the young people and leaders involved and varies from cell to cell.

Who is responsible?
Each cell has at least one adult cell-leader and most have 2.  All the leaders are CRB checked and have had training for working with young people.  Ultimately, the Youth Pastor, Alan Stapleton is responsible for the cell-groups.
